Cross Village is a small, quiet township overlooking Lake Michigan. It originated as a gathering place and trading center for Native Americans centuries ago, and is one of the oldest settlements in Michigan.
The town of Cross Village is at the end of M-119’s Tunnel of Trees, a popular scenic drive that runs south along the lakeshore 20 miles to Harbor Springs.
Cross Village is located in northwestern Emmet County, on the shore of Lake Michigan at the southern limit of Sturgeon Bay. The village has several local businesses, including a restaurant, a convenience store/gas station, and an art studio.
There are many public areas for the enjoyment of nature, including lakes, streams, and hiking trails. A map of the lands available for public use in the township can be found here. and of special interest is the Woolam Preserve, with a walking trail to Lake Michigan, information on that can be found here.
